after the oak closed in 2015, it was a massive loss to the gay community, now the new owners paul & matthew have re-opened the bar i feel it is safer vibrant and an overall better place the drinks are alot cheaper the staff are alot friendlier and the pub is alot cleaner! well done guys and i hope you succeed

Is it closed? is it open? who knows! I think it's more stable now, like a proper oak. It's got a lot of attitude for such a small place and for its location, middlesbrough isnt the best place afterall. But it's doing loads for the gay scene and I loved it when I lived up there.
